Welcome to our Juniors
page!
We have an
active Junior section with fleets of Optimists, Toppers, Mirrors & Lasers.
Junior
training & racing takes place each summer with regular Saturday training
sessions, plus two full weeks of racing & training during the Summer Holidays.
Our
training fleet is split into 3 groups with our youngest sailors just learning
to sail & have fun in Optimists.
We have a
Topper group for more advanced sailing and race-training, plus an older group
of Topper & Laser sailors developing their racing skills.
We
also offer race training and encourage our junior sailors to join in club
racing. Some of our more experienced Topper sailors
compete at
open-meetings and in 2005 one of our sailors qualified for the
RYA South Zone
Topper squad.
We have a
number of RYA qualified racing coaches and we’re keen to help our young
sailors achieve success at club level and beyond.
For 2008
we’re also planning to run the RYA “Start Racing” & “Intermediate Racing”
courses for some of our Junior members.
Our
recognized Junior fleets are Optimist & Toppers. We have club boats available
for people to try out so if you would like to join us we’d love to hear from
you.
