TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES The following courses will be available according to demand; dates and details will be shown on the Club Training notice board and here. (A charge will be made that will reflect the cost of any books, certificates and any other necessary expenditure).
RYA Levels 1 & 2 (Escort Boat) (Powerboat handling, applicable to cruisers under power as well as motor boats) - This is a 2-day course. - Note: Juniors 11- 14 are eligible to take RYA Level 1 From April 2008 RIB Endorsement From May 2008 Safety Boat Certificate (RYA) Minimum requirement is Level 2, including RIB endorsement. - This is a 2-day course. - From May 2008 ICC (With RYA level 2) The International Certificate of Competence: The Internationally recognised qualification for European waters. This is normally run in conjunction with the Level 2 course for members without other acceptable qualifications. (i.e. for sailing boats up to 10m (under power) and powerboats) Note: RYA members may obtain this certificate free of charge if they are able to provide acceptable evidence of competence (e.g. Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper) From April 2008 CEVNI The inland waters (Europe) requirement as endorsement to ICC (International Certificate of Competence). Evening only for examination. - Anytime VHF “Short Range Certificate” (RYA) The new VHF radio operator’s certificate that includes GDMSS. This is a 1-day course. Also recommended for upgrades from existing VHF Operators Licence to Short-Range Certificate (SRC). From Jan 2008 RYA First Aid Course This is a 1-day course for new certificates (also recommended for renewals). - From Jan 2008 DIESEL ENGINE - NEW Diesel Maintenance Course held at CSC from January 2008
