Finn Masters; In Denmark last week five CSC members had a great time..... all very enjoyable ......results; out of 241 entries were, Andy Denison 103, Simon Percival 65, Peter Blick 164, Russell New 178, Richard Phillips 191. In the club event Christchurch Sailing Club were 14 so a very good result all round....

Scows: 15 scows were out last Wednesday for a good breeze but a falling tide. Paul Mecklenberg led us home, but was closely pursued by two ladies (Carol Shore and Christine de Laine) in second and third - a 'first' for the fleet! Slipway etiquette was properly observed and, as a result, we had no slips, trips or falls despite only being able to use the central portion. Both weekend races were lost to strong winds: probably not helped by the very early race start times.

Juniors: Thursday night Race Training was blown off the water by some violently gusty conditions, so Rory ran a classroom training session concentrating on racing skills. With Friday's conditions looking similar, we waited with bated breath, and thankfully at launch time the breeze eased enough to give our 25 Freestyle sailors a fantastic sail down harbour to Number Two mark with Richie Beasley and his crew of helpers, and a great sail back in the South-Westerly on a rising tide. Lots of improved boat handling and sail control - please keep it up! The 16 intrepid Pirates were setting sail with rigging sticks to practice their downwind steering and wind awareness, followed by a couple of games of Shark Attack - so we all had a great time, with the Pirates learning about trim, balance and steering (sometimes in a straight line too....). Thanks again to the helpers and parents team (getting the fleet ready, launching and recovering for the barbecue is no mean feat) and to the young sailors for your great behaviour.
