Redclyffe Rally

24th - 25 August 2019

Dear Ralliers,

You are invited to join us for the biennial rally to Redclyffe.

In brief,

24/8 Hog Roast and Redclyffe vs CSC challenge

25/8 Brownsea Island Posh PIcnic and Games or stay at Redclyffe for Cream Tea and a Talk given by an ex-Tug Boat Captain or do your own thing

Yes, the time has come to sail to Redclyffe and return to our winning ways in the away match. Please be upstanding and let me know if you would like to represent CSC in the challenge. We need 5 volunteers. Otherwise Press(dee) gangs will be in operation.

The rally has proved so popular in the past that Redclyffe have unfortunately had to cap our numbers. 60 max people for the supper; that's about 30 boats and sadly no drive-rounds will be permitted.

This year there will be space for only 12 CSC boats on their pontoon. I think we managed to squeeze 17 on last year. They would like some space for their own members. Priority will be given to boats with anyone who has difficulty with mobility (for instance using dinghies). We cannot guarantee that you will be on the inside, as space next to the pontoon is very limited. We will circulate a mooring plan later, after consulting with Redclyffe. If you want to book Ridge Wharf privately please do so and let us know. Apart from the pontoon, Redclyffe will find suitable moorings on the river.

No mooring will be allowed at the club on the Friday night unless by prior arrangement.
Please let me know if you would like to stay on Friday night and I will liaise with Redclyffe, this may be possible especially if you are one of the boats on the inside.

There will be a Hog Roast on the Saturday night, the cost is £8 pp. As usual mooring fees are waived on Saturday, except for Ridge Wharf. Please bring your own liquid refreshment as Redclyffe do NOT have a bar. The £8 will be collected on Saturday evening, please could you have the correct cash available.

On the Sunday afternoon, there will be a posh picnic (please bring your own food and drink) with games on Brownsea. We have Rounders and Molky. If you have Giant Jenga or anything else suitable please bring it with you. Of course being Brownsea NO BBQs. Please anchor off Pottery Pier or Blood Alley and make your way to the open spaces, a short walk from Blood Alley beach. I think it's called Daffodil Fields.

Also on Sunday, if the above sounds a bit too strenuous , there will be a cream tea event at Redclyffe and a talk by one of their members on his past experiences as a tug boat captain. There will be a small charge for the event and mooring space may be available and a fee is payable.

Please could you provide the following information when you book:

1. Numbers and names of the boats arriving
2. The overall lengths
3. Names of boats who may have any crew with any mobility problems who will require to be alongside the pontoon
4 Any special dietary requirements
5. Any boats who wish to arrive on the Friday (normally only event organiser/Commodore) or stay on the Sunday
6. If you have booked a mooring with Ridge Wharf

Please note that on Friday night, there may be space at Poole Yacht Club (PYC ) for a limited number of boats. They do not have visitor moorings but some of their members may be away and their moorings would be available. To find out if there is space please phone the PYC office on either Monday 19/8 or Tuesday 20/8 Tel 01202 672687 during normal office hours. They will require your length, beam and contact details. They will not be able to confirm space before those dates.

Please book participation in this CSC rally by logging on and clicking the Book Now button.

The tides are not too kind on Saturday 24th August, however most of our boats could leave CSC at about 14:00, which would mean reaching Redclyffe at about 18:00, depending on wind, engine size etc. You would have a little tide against you but not much as it is neaps on the 25th. On the 24th, Wareham HW is 19:45 (neaps+ 1 day) 1.8m , so no problem approaching Redclyffe, LW is 12:00 1.2m.
