Return to Sailing . Nearly there for some lucky Members!

So from Monday (29/3) you can, at last, access the Club site, although the club house will remain closed.

Cruisers

You may now get on with preparing your boats for the coming season. If your cruiser has been stored elsewhere you may put your boat back on it's allocated mooring, but after checking the winter maintenance has been completed, but please remember coming alongside at the club is to be very limited between the slipway and the mast crane only - a max of 10 mins. There is no access to the maintenance bay until after craning In day.

Inflatable tender storage access will be limited until cruiser craning in 26th April

The cruiser rally programme is currently under review, look at for news and links to the website coming soon!

Dinghies

If you are lucky enough to have winter dinghy storage as from Monday (29/3) you are permitted to sail from the Club. Remember that if you've summer storage unfortunately you have a little longer to wait - this now commences on 1/5.

Club racing also starts on Good Friday (2/4) and continues on Saturday and Sunday - there is no racing on Easter Monday. This first series is a newly adapted set of races to address the unscheduled delay to the start of our Summer; the 'Breakout Series' consisting of 6 races in all. A set of 3 Hardy Caper Races is also planned for winter Scow sailors.

My CSC has been updated with the new race programme and Notice of Race - if you have previously diarised race dates, please do check all these dates again as the knock-on effect of the delayed summer season has affected a number of other series beyond 1/5.

Please remember that you must complete a Dinghy Entry Form 2021 to take part in these races. Junior competitors must also get the necessary consent paperwork completed and submitted. This is all available in the documents section of the Club Website. Thanks to all those who have already done this.

Volunteering

There remain many unfilled volunteer posts on the sailing programme. All Club Members are asked to do their bit and if you have dinghy storage, please remember that you should carry 2 duties and 3 if you are a racer. Volunteering is easy via My CSC.

Covid19 Next Steps for the Club Changing Rooms.

With effect Saturday 17th April the Club Changing Rooms will be open and available for use if required. Showers remain strictly closed and must not be used. All members however should continue to arrive at the Club ready to sail wherever possible. Additionally, those members who live close to the Club and can easily accommodate travel to and from the club in sailing gear, are, for the time being, asked to continue to operate in this fashion. When the changing rooms are used post-race, Members are asked to observe the following special rules:

  1. Face masks are to be worn.
  2. Social Distancing Measures are to be observed as best as is practicable.
  3. Members should only occupy the marked areas on the benches within the changing rooms. If these are all taken, then members should wait outside until a marked area becomes available.
  4. Those changing should minimise the time in the changing room and ensure bench areas are left clear of kit for the next occupant of that space.

Covid19 Next Steps for the Club Wind Speed Limit

With effect Saturday 17th April the temporary 16-knot average wind speed restriction that has been applied to all Club Racing will be lifted to a new threshold of 21 knots. This more lenient restriction will be kept under review and revisited around the 17th May.
