What's Happening on the Water - 04/10/2018

Well…. It's a call to arms for all dinghies, whether you are an "Oppie" Sailor, Scow Sailor, a Finn Sailor or a class 5 Sailor, we need as many entries as possible for the final two races of the Harbour Interclub Event on this coming Sunday. It's a 10.00 start, so be there in plenty of time, so we can all be at the start ready to do battle with our friendly local clubs. Highcliffe SC, Mudeford SC and Hengisbury Head SC. We are lying second and we need a big push. I will be there with my new rudder…… A big thank you…. Rover.

Our intrepid on-the-road sailors were competing at the RYA South and South West Championships 2018. Fran New was in the "Optimist" main Fleet for the first time and achieved a very respectful 66th out of 78th. Finnlee Leigh-Anderson raced in the regatta fleet for the first time in his "Optimist" since Junior Week came 13th out of 37. Will Sears was racing in his "Tera," coming 13th out of 16. Well done to all three sailing under the Club flag.

We are holding the "Interclub" Prize giving at CSC this year on Friday 26th October and want to make it a more enjoyable evening for our local clubs. So I have arranged a supper with our Bar and Catering Manager. Timing, 6.30 for 7pm and prize-giving at 8pm. The menu will be posted on the notice board and I urge you to sign up and play good hosts to our guest clubs.

Saturday 6th October sees the Autumn Series 5 for all Classes, 10.00 start. Next week on Wednesday it is the last Capers racing followed by the "Alan Ford Lunch." Please get you names down for this annual event. It was Alan Ford who set up the Wednesday Capers many years ago, it has over the years been very popular with the retired fraternity, but sadly of late, the fleets are not as large as they were some ten year ago. So let us see all those who have Scows on the hard and in dry storage for a record-breaking last race of the year.

We hope to be arranging more dates for Race Officer and Assistants either on the water or in the Training Room. If you have not been involved and you wish to join us please contact me.

Finally……Make sure we win the Harbour Interclub on Sunday!
