On The Water

What an amazing bank holiday weekend on the water in so many ways! Every type of sailing from CSC- in summary….

The Scow fleet had well attended pursuit races in the harbour. A huge cruiser fleet visited Redclyffe Yacht Club followed on Sunday by a picnic and games ashore from anchorages off Brownsea Island. Other cruiser sailors were spotted in all the usual haunts of Yarmouth and Studland, to name but a few.

Race officer training was held afloat by Richard Phillips alongside the scows and some class 4 dinghies- thank you to Richard and also the willing participants both completing and furthering their training. More training to follow so watch this space.

Last week saw Junior week- a full report below but congratulations and well done to the club members led by Hugh Rayner who gave up their time and looked after and coached 62 of our junior members! A great feat and many skills gained by our youngsters for life. Fantastic reports of happy young people and not so young helpers…!!

Poole week was attended by Francesca New and Mads Fry, joined by Drew Barnes straight from his Canadian GBR representation who pulled off a 2nd place finish. Drew also completed his Dinghy Instructor qualification so all credit to him.

CSC Junior Week - what a blast!

Wow - what a fantastic week was had by all...

The sun shone, the wind blew, the tides were (relatively) kind and we had a full complement of young sailors making the most of their time on and off the water. From the Pirates fleet all sailing upwind (having rigged, launched and then recovered their own Optimists) to the Race Fleet who had some super-close racing, with everyone joining together for the Big Friday Fun Day - it was all an absolute joy to be part of.

There are too many people to thank - but you all know who you are. It was a gargantuan team effort and something that the club, families and young sailors can all be justifiably proud of.

There will be a full report in the next club magazine, and as you can see from the parent's race photo, a lot of fun was had throughout!
