Ladies sailing

....well what a windy evening it was last Thursday for the ladies session, we had 14 sailors go out in 9 boats, not all at once. We had 2 hander boats and lasers which we were able to swop over helm and crew from the anchored safety boat . Everyone did so well with their boat handling skills in windy conditions. Here is Lindsey demonstrating....

Harbour Olympic Series - weekend of 18/19 June

We have decided to hold a Harbour Olympic Series for the coming weekend of 18/19 June this year. There will be 2 olympic races each day - with the classic "triangle-sausage-triangle" course, passing through the start line on each upwind leg.

Prizes for the series will be awarded for Class 4, Class 5, Lady Helm, Scow and Junior winners and also a prize for the overall winner on handicap.

The races should be short and therefore quick, making the most of the tide. The two races each day will be run back-to-back.

This kind of racing is great fun and allows all the club dinghy fleets a chance to do something a bit different whilst competing against each other. Please come along and join in.

There are still a few duty places to be filled for the two days - please volunteer if you are able to help.

Absolutely outstanding Junior sailing last Friday

We knew it was going to be a breezy evening but the weather delivered an extra few knots just for luck!

The Swashbucklers sought the shelter of the reeds whilst playing some games on the water.

The Pirates and Buccaneers did some exploring of the harbour and now know that there are some sandbanks in the harbour! Whilst working on their boat control and sailing in close quarters

The Adventures and the Racers threw caution to the wind and spent the session planing around their race course!

Thank you to all involved for making it happen and bring on the next session.

Ricky
