What's Happening on the Water - 05/11/2018

Published 06:38 on 9 Nov 2018

The Winter Series is well under way, although there was no racing last weekend due to tides. All Winter Racing will be taking place in the mornings. This Sunday is "Armistice Day," and the start times are shown as 11.00. I will be asking the Race officers to delay the start by 10 minutes, so the two minutes silence may be observed on this 100 year anniversary.

Francesca New has been selected for the RYA British Youth Sailing Optimist Zone Squad, and has an exciting winter of quality training ahead of her. Last weekend she was at the National Sailing Academy for a land day, and this weekend she will be at Castle Cove for her first weekend of training. We wish her well.

This Saturday is the start of the Scow River Racing, and the Scow sailors are appreciative of the Cruiser owners who have removed their link lines. Safety is paramount and they need to be re-moved by Friday of this week. Again, thank you for your assistance in this matter.

All trophies for class 4, Class 5, Cruisers and the Ladies fleet should have been returned, so the Class Captains can organize the engraving for the Dinner Dance and Prize Giving on Saturday 8th December.

If you, or your off springs are competing under our club flag in events away from our club, do let me know by email direct, as I do not use the information published on Facebook etc.

Hoping for good sailing this weekend
