"What's Happening on the Water"
Last Saturday, due to high winds the Icebreaker Series had to be cancelled. I would thank all the personnel who turn up to support the race. Hopefully our next racing for this series on Saturday 23rd the wind will be more suitable. I would ask for volunteers for that day. I need two Assistants and a Skipper for a rib/launch. Please email me direct. Thank you.
We still have over a hundred duty gaps to fill this year and would urge those dinghy sailors who have not yet volunteered, to do so as soon as possible. You can go on line and choose your date. We do expect all members who are allocated sailing dinghy storage to carry out at least two race duties. Failure to do so may compromise future storage allocation.
Richard Phillips and I are providing another Seminar directed at the Assistants to Race officers and Escort crew, on Sunday 24th February, starting at 10.00 in the Training Room. This is an ideal opportunity for new associate members and existing members who definitely need to brush up on what is required to run a race efficiently and safely.
Last Saturday Flynn Atkins set off at 5am with his grandpa and headed to Rutland Waters for the Laser 4.7 Ladder Open Meeting and UKLA Laser Worlds and Europeans Qualifier Event 2. No Racing Saturday. Sunday was well worth it. Well done Flynn for flying our CSC flag.
As you know I will not be seeking re-election at the AGM, and I do urge someone out there to give their time for a very rewarding job as "Sailing Secretary"………I will be happy to discuss with anyone considering the nomination to what is required for this important position within the club.
