"What's Happening on the Water"

Congratulations to all who competed in last Saturday's first "Icebreaker Series" race of the year. The turnout was excellent, with nineteen boats from CSC, and a further five from HSC. The first race was hard fought around a triangular course set by the race officer Nick Woolley. Due to neaps and a lack of water the course was set at the southern end of the harbour. The second race saw the wind increase and many of the lasers and class 5 boats capsized and kept the two escort vessels very busy. Following the race at a de-briefing, it was agreed that the race officer requires a minimum of two helpers on board the launch with such a large fleet and we will be making sure this happens at the next race on Saturday 26th January.

We are again invited to join Highcliffe this coming Sunday for their "Icicle Series" in the harbour starting at 10.30

We have put together for this year an "Introduction to CSC Dinghy Race Management Duties Seminars", the first will be run on Sunday 27th January in the training room starting at 10.00am. We will be running these seminars throughout the year once month. The target audience will be Dinghy Sailors and other CSC members willing to assist with running dinghy races in Christchurch Harbour as an Assistant Race Officer or Escort crew. The aims and objectives will be posted on our website within the next few days. I urge you to read the objectives and volunteer your name to the office indicating your willingness to attend. The next two dates will be 24th February and 24th of March.

We need an Escort Skipper for Saturday 26th January and two assistants (non-qualified) for the same date. Please contact the office as soon as possible if you can help. Thank you.
